From his dank, dreary cavern in the Gloomdown hills, Wedgeword roams far and wide, in search of opportunities to stuff keywords into the Title, Description, Meta Keyword and Image Alt tags of unsuspecting Website owners.
His favoured prey are the many trading merchants transporting their wares to-and-fro along the bustling Archduke’s Highway between NuggetGate Trading Post and Chipping Linking.
A decade ago the bones of Wedgeword’s victims lay strewn in piles along the highway, until an urgent edict from the Archduke ordered Sir Linksworthy to deal with the troublesome giant.
Thankfully, since our stouthearted hero started patrolling the highway armed with a crossbow and meta tag analyser, raids from Wedgword have been few and far between.
Still new webmasters must be made aware of the devastating effect this giant can have on search engine rankings, and steer well clear if they hear Wedgeword’s thundering voice and earth shaking footsteps approaching from the distance.
If confronted with this giant and not in the company of an armoured escort, do not engage him in hand to hand combat.
Instead shouting the word “Webmaster Guidelines” at the top of your voice, usually has the desired effect of sending the cowardly and quivering Giant fleeing back to his caliginous cavern.
